Sound Foundation Acappella Voices: First night of 10 Wk Term – Jan 25th 2017: Fab New Voices join in Selly Oak!
Sound Foundation Acappella Voices: ‘Calling New Voices 2017’ welcomes new powerful voices last Wednesday at Selly Oak Methodist Hall Langleys Road, B’ham B29 6HT 7.30 – 9pm
The evening started with physical and vocal warm ups, making sure the voice and body are safely ready for action and fully resonant. Leading into a North American Indian Song with Indian drum beats in the feet – a fun way to multi-task voice, while singing North American Indian lyrics, and rhythm together. We then over-layered the English meaning lyrics, antiphonally in two parts. Definitely a challenge but everyone did it with style and an awesome earthy sound!
After a short sociable break, we followed that by a song hard-wired in the collective memory I Can’t Help Falling In Love with you the Elvis hit.
From the get go, fab acappella harmonies appeared naturally filling the room with power and confidence. Smiling faces and stunned surprise told how much everyone was enjoying the group sound, dynamic and newly discovered vocal abilities.
So Wednesday evenings all this term, until 5th April (half term Weds 22nd February), Sound Foundation are offering an open recruitment for new singers, so come along and be a part of getting Selly Oak resonating to the warmth of that acappella vocal harmony vibe.
Bring yourself, your voice and an open mind to be creatively inspired to explore the power of your voice and be ready to dive in – we’ll catch You!
